ARE YOU AGEING, OR ARE YOU GROWING IN MATURITY?

The Trigger

We often confuse age with wisdom.
But as Osho beautifully reminds us - “Everyone grows old. But not everyone becomes mature.”

Growing older is automatic.
Growing wiser? That takes intention.

The Insight

A key marker of maturity is this:

“A mature person never commits the same mistake again. But a person who is immature goes on committing the same mistakes again and again. He lives in a circle.” — Osho

Think about that.

Same pattern. Same argument. Same regret.
If life keeps repeating itself, the issue may not be out there - it may be inside.

My Reflection

True maturity comes not from experience alone but from awareness of experience.

That’s why I often say:

Don’t just live your life. Observe it.
Don’t just move on. Reflect.

Over the years, what’s helped me move from reaction to reflection is:

  • Daily silence
  • Reviewing my own actions without defensiveness
  • Learning from wise people and their writings
  • Journaling thoughts and recurring emotional loops
  • Asking: “Did I grow today, or just get through the day?”

The Lesson

  • Ageing is physical.
  • Maturity is spiritual and psychological.

You become mature when you stop blaming others, stop repeating patterns, and start taking full ownership of your emotional state.

Try This:

  1. Sit in silence for 10 minutes each day - not to “do” but to notice.
  2. Ask yourself at night: “What did I learn about myself today?”
  3. Revisit one past mistake. Not with guilt - but with the intent to learn and not repeat.

If you’re walking in circles, maybe it’s time to pause, zoom out, and step into growth.

Because life doesn’t change when you age. It changes when you evolve.
